Hi, I am Sara

I'm a renter who figured out how to grow herbs on a windowsill, bake sourdough in a tiny kitchen, compost under my sink, and ferment almost everything โ without a garden, a big budget, or any special skills.
This blog is where I write it all down, clearly and honestly, so you don't have to figure it out the hard way.
How This All Started
A few years ago I was living in a small rented apartment, throwing away half my kitchen scraps every week, buying plastic-packaged herbs I used once and forgot about, and feeling completely disconnected from where my food came from.
I wanted to change that โ but everything I found online assumed you had a garden, a house, or at least a large balcony. Nobody was talking about doing this in a flat with one sunny window and a landlord who did not want nails in the walls.
"I started experimenting quietly, made a lot of mistakes, and eventually figured out what actually works in a real apartment."
Here's what I ended up with:
- ๐ชฑ A worm composting bin that fits under my kitchen sink
- ๐ฟ A herb garden on my windowsill that supplies most of what I cook with
- ๐ A sourdough starter that has been living in my fridge for over a year
- ๐ซ Fermented foods that cost almost nothing to make
None of it required special skills or expensive equipment. It just required someone to figure it out first and write it down clearly. That is what this blog is.
What I Believe
Small spaces are enough
A windowsill, a kitchen counter, and a little patience are genuinely all you need to get started.
Start before you are ready
The best time to plant herbs or start a worm bin is right now, not when you have more time or a bigger space.
Renters deserve this too
Sustainable living should not require owning property. Everything here is renter-friendly and landlord-approved.
Real testing only
Every method, recipe, and technique on this blog has been tested in an actual small apartment. No theory without practice.
What You Will Find Here
Everything on this blog is written for renters and apartment dwellers who want to live more intentionally โ without needing outdoor space or a large budget.
My Promise to You
Every article on this blog is written honestly, tested personally, and designed for people living in real small spaces โ not an idealised version of apartment life. No fluff, no filler, no advice I have not tried myself.
